Don't just burn calories. Get fit with a purpose at the gym with the BEST functional kickboxing classes in NYC
I started Martial Arts at age 51. It started with pushups when my son was training for his black belt. Then I got talked into taking a class. It hurt so much to walk down the steps after the first class that I went back the next day afraid that I wouldn't be able to walk at all if I didn't loosen up the muscles. I was amazed at how quickly I got into better shape than I probably have been in my whole life.
Here I am a little over three years later still at it and enjoying it so much! My allergies are better, I stand up straighter, I certainly can kick a lot higher, and I can do way more push ups than my age.

As someone who has made the investment of time to find the best kickboxing instruction in NYC for my entire family of four, I can say that our decision to join Modern Martial Arts has been a fantastic one!
The classes are high intensity and geared towards the serious hobbyist as opposed to the professional fighter. The small class size allows for some personalized attention and the instructors are 'hands on'. I don't know of any schools that offer this combination of high quality, personalized instruction from highly credentialized instructors in a non-pressured environment.

At 25 years old, I thought I was in shape, but Modern Martial Arts takes the meaning of "in shape" to another level. The instructors were very patient and encouraging as I learned but always pushed me to my limits.
Over my four years at Modern Martial Arts, new faces have become friends, instructors have become trustworthy coaches and mentors, a workout has become a skilled art form, and I have achieved more than I ever thought I was capable of.

I needed a new, different work out before I went crazy from too much time in the gym. This place is just the ticket.
You will sweat. A lot. My arms are way more toned and I've definitely slimmed down. I can even do a few push ups now. And while I was initially a little put off by the idea of wearing a martial arts uniform, now I like it because the belt gives me a goal to work towards.
They are also careful here to keep the workouts varied, which prevents boredom - always a huge impediment to sticking to any workout plan.
